I came to this place many years ago with a few friends, suffice it to say I barely had time to venture to the Lantana area. But fate brought me back here and the atmosphere and quality never diminished, and we're talking about 4 years between visits. My friend and I ordered the sushi boat for 2, some gyoza, and sake. We had a grand time, the sushi quality was spectacular. I went to Japan recently and it was nice to be reminded that there were places of comparable quality and attention to detail. Glad to have come back for a visit. Will always recommend to anyone near the area for good sushi.

Nice ambient place to have a meal. Not a large place. Food is good. Celebration rolls are probably there best rolls. But all the food I've had here has been good

Great sushi! What more do you want or need to confirm? The rolls are 8 pieces which is far better than the normal 6 - so that aspect alone is pretty nice. The dumplings are not mushy which is very important. Overall I would certainly return.

Consistently delicious, fresh, and friendly; these are words you'll use when writing about Sushi Yami! Since this location is easy to find and close to my home, I recently returned with my sister in hopes of dining on a sushi boat. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated at a nice booth close to the sushi bar. Our hot green tea kept coming - the waitress was nice and had a smile on her face the entire meal. (I'm pretty sure the hot green tea had free refills - we probably downed 4 pots of tea!!) We ordered an octopus appetizer (the name escapes me, sorry) and while it was garnished and presented nicely, we were off-put by the ICE COLD center of the octopus. I almost removed a star, but the rest of our meal was great. Edamame doesn't come salted, so be aware of that - there is salt on the table, though, so you can do-it-yourself. The Yami Boat for Two was priced nicely & came with miso soup; my sister and I finished 3/4ths of it and took the rest home. The leftovers held up well the next day. Oh, and be aware that this place DOES get busy - we arrived just before the dinner rush & I was very glad we did.

Been going to this place for at least eight years. I love it! I love the people that work there! The buffet next-door opened and I think it's crap compared to Sushi Yami. I love to go by there before I do my grocery shopping or go to the nail shop and I love the Miami Heat roll and saki! It's a friendly atmosphere and it's great & I highly recommend.

Start off with the Firecracker Sashimi, and there's little chance that the rest of your night won't be a success! Slightly seared sashimi surrounded with a very light ring of tempura. Excellent! We also ordered up a few sushi rolls, ranging from simple (a basic salmon roll, stuffed generously with deliciously fresh fish) to not-so-simple... I personally recommend Yami's roll. This place is small, casual, and serves up great sushi. Maybe not the best place for a first date, but certainly a good spot overall.

Do not judge a book by its cover. The outside looks outdated and run down and the insides ambiance isn't the top of the line which is why I knock one star off. But that's it. We have both dined in and gotten take out sushi (something I really never ever do) here and it's never be a negative experience! The owners are always in there and are so nice to chat with. The service is impeccable and their wait staff are very attentive. The sushi is a wide enough variety that even those who may be new to the flavors can enjoy it! While they may need to update their decor, that's the only complaint I have. The prices are very reasonable and the service is always great. They are closed for a few hours in the afternoons so make sure you check before you go! I highly recommend Sushi Yami!

We love sushi. While we have found good sushi all over south Florida, we have struggled to find AFFORDABLE good sushi. This place takes the cake. The selection, freshness, and charm of this little restaurant is on point. We ordered the Yami Roll, Golden JB Roll, and a spicy tuna roll and absolutely loved it. We are so excited to find good and cheap sushi that is clearly fresh. Will be back!

Love this place for sushi. Good place to bring someone along who does not want raw fish because they have a lot of rolls where the fish is cooked. Staff here is always attentive and friendly and the food is always good. I love to get their rice bowls at lunch time, avocado salad and they got these rolls they load up with spicy crab on top that are just amazeballs.

Saw how fellow Yelpers rated this place and being a huge sushi fan, we had to check it out. So upon entering at 530 on a Tuesday, place was almost empty, but the people that were there were greeted by name. Always said if the locals go it has to be good!!! Great sushi, service and ambiance. The waitress to a personal interest in us and it paid off for her! A must for any sushi lover!

Only 4 stars because a couple of pieces of my sushi were chewy. I like soft buttery sushi, not sushi that is tough, maybe sinewy is word I'm looking for but we got the sushi boat for 1 and gyoza And husband and I were not able to finish it all. I asked the lady what that fish was that was chewy and it was snapper. Not sure if snapper is supposed to be that way but none of the other fish was. It also came with a JB roll which was scrumptious. The waitress was super friendly and even offered to exchange the tough fish but I told her no since we couldn't even finish what we had.

Sushi Yami offers the best Sushi I've had outside of Japan (and I had Sushi in many different countries). Needless to say, you will likely not find better Sushi in West Palm Beach. Sushi Yami is the real deal.

WOW! The sushi in this place is amazing. We eat in here at least once a week because of the quality and the consistency of the food. The menu offerings for sushi are quite varied, ensuring that everyone will find something that they can love. The spicy tuna is always perfect, which isn't always the case at other sushi restaurants. The cherry blossom roll is one of my faves as it combines such delicious flavors that I can't get enough of it. My husband really loves the Miami heat roll and I am quickly becoming a fan as well. The eel is always succulent and wonderful, not dry and gross like I've had at some other places. The salads and the Miso soup always taste fresh and appetizing. My son raves about the dancing eel roll and the baby loves the chicken dish off of the children's menu. They really do have something for everyone and we can take the kids with us without being worried about them finding something to eat on the menu. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming and we've not ever waited to long to get our food. Prices are comparable to everywhere else that offers this type of food, if not slightly less expensive. All in all, it's a really great place to go for sushi with great prices and a warm and welcoming staff. Definitely check it out, you'll be glad that you did.

This place is amazing! Best Pad Thai I've ever had. Generous portions, good prices, excellent service. I haven't had many things on the menu but everything I tried has been excellent.

I was very excited to try this sushi because of the reviews and pictures and had high hopes but I was sorely mistaken. First, the spicy grilled octopus was not fresh, it was almost mush - ew! Next my seaweed salad was extremely bland, and lacked all its juiciness. It was as if there was no dressing or at least no vinegar at all. Last, I had a spicy tuna hand roll and C=california roll which were decent. As far as décor goes- not good. Not good at all. Overall I was very underwhelmed and disappointed. Wish I could say better, but these are the facts.

Family friendly restaurant. Eat here once a week. This is where the locals go for sushi. Everything is fresh and authentic. The Celebration roll and Birthday roll are the best!

Sushi Yami is a great sushi restaurant, not the best in Palm Beach County, but very good and reasonably priced. Sushi is always fresh and the staff is always friendly. We live close by so it is always our to go spot. Gave it 4 stars because of the reasonably priced sushi and great service.

Just around the corner from where we live. At first we were a little skeptical since the decor is definitely outdated. This look like an old chinese restaurant which is ok with me because i'm here for the food and service. The rolls are definitely americanized and drenched with sauce. Again, I like this kind of sushi. We had the hamachi kama (fried yellowtail jaw), salmon sushi, salmon skin hand roll, JB tempura roll, volcano roll, and dancing eel. I could gone without the JB tempura, the batter was gross and hard. They should consider using a lighter batter because it soaked all the eel sauce on top and it made it taste like a donut. A+ for the yellowtail and hand roll. Pretty dead on with texture. The crunch was there and thats important. I thought the volcano roll could have larger chunks of conch but it tasted it like the way i like it, lots of mayo. I will come back since they are family friendly and the staff is nice.

So many places to go for sushi. Nothing wrong with this place. Has good selection of rolls. Just not the best I've had in Palm Beach County. A destination of convenience.

Good sushi for a great price. I go for lunch occasionally. The service is good and the lunch specials are reasonably priced. I go back when I don't have time to go to the more expensive place down the street. If you want, you can have lunch in less Than thirty minutes.
